Two Repower MD77 wind turbines on 115m lattice towers we decommissioned in two weekends in Belgium. Lattice towers are not common in Western Europe, you see some in Germany and a few in Belgium. Everyone knows lattice towers with the high voltage lines everywhere to transport electricity.
As the wind turbines were located in a very busy industrial area, it took about nine month of preperation, discussions with landowners, local authorities and other stakeholders. After adjustments of roads, blocking public roads and detours to guide traffic, we could start with the lifting works on Friday afternoon at 14.00hrs, taking of the rotor.
Later that evening, blades, hub and nacelle were loaded on trucks and transported to our storage. They will be taken apart and used as spareparts.

On Saturday morning early we started to take down the first lattice tower section. Once at ground level, two excavators were ready with scissors to cut the tower in pieces immediately and load in containers for recycling. At the end of the saturday lifting works were done and we all could go home for the weekend. The Friday afternoon one week later we repeated the process again and also end of Saturday afternoon lifting works were ready again.
Now cranes are gone, job is finished and we received the compliments from the landowner and most important stakeholder regarding effect of our works on their activities. That was good to hear.
