In Kilvinane, Ireland two Gamesa wind turbines were in poor condition. For that reason we replaced them with two vestas V80 2MW – ex Vuursteentocht, Flevopolder NL – wind turbines.

In the past, Gamesa from Spain, was producing Vestas wind turbines under license from 1995 until 2002. After 2002 Gamesa continued production of the products and step by step changed the designs. The early Gamesa’s do have a lot in common with Vestas wind turbines.
That is the reason this Vestas V80 does fit on the Gamesa G80 tower. Also the blades and transformers have been used. The V80 nacelles, hubs and control systems have been replaced.

The weather conditions at this time of year and this location were not easy. We had many windy days so we also had to work at night to get the job done. In one week the two Gamesa G80 wind turbines were replaced by two Vestas V80’s.
Coming weeks they will be completed and commissioned for another long life of converting wind energy in electrical energy.
Rengineers will maintain these two V80’s for the future to assure high level operation for a long term.
