In Lanaken, Belgium three Vestas V80 wind turbines with a hub height of 100 meters owned and operated by Engie, have been decommissioned in recent weeks.

Two of the turbines are being refurbished in our workshop and will subsequently be shipped to Ukraine. The foundations are being demolished and the foundation rings will be reused for installation in Ukraine.

The last turbine was in poor condition with a broken gearbox; it is currently being partially recycled, while usable components are being recovered and made available as spare parts. For efficient transport for recycling purposes, a barge was used to move the materials from Lanaken to Ghent. The different materials will be separated to ensure optimal recycling.

Within a few weeks, the two refurbished wind turbines will be fully reassembled, and transported to Ukraine, where they will be given a second life.
